Large moth struggles to free itself after flying into web of tropical orb weaver spider (Eriophora ravilla) in French Guiana. The spider then descends web to inflict a paralyzing bite. Tropical orb weavers can attain a leg span of 7.5 cm, the size of some small tarantulas. They are found from the southern U.S. to northern South America where they build webs reaching 2 meters across. | |
