Monarch butterfly (Danus plexippus)sticks its sucking tube or proboscis deep into milkweed flower. The milkweed monarchs feed on contain toxins which are absorbed into the monarchs' bodies. While harmless to monarchs, the toxins make the butterflies less likely they will be eaten by predators. | |
