Animation of the planet Saturn and its largest moon Titan. Unlike any other moon in the Solar System, Titan has a thick atmosphere of nitrogen, with trace amounts of methane and other hydrocarbons. It also has lakes of liquid hydrocarbons on its surface, and evidence of rains and floods of liquid methane and ethane. The surface temperature is around -180 degrees Celsius. The Huygens probe landed on the surface of Titan in January 2005, becoming the first and to date only landing on a body in the outer Solar System. | |
