The University of Denver Archaeology Field School at the World War 2 Amache Japanese internment camp in Granada, Colorado, USA. Camp survivors and descendants joined students in researching the camp's history. Carlene Tanigoshi Tinker, sifts through soil from the excavation; she was interned at the camp when she was 3-6 years old. With her is Bailey Hernandez, a local high school student whose grandfather delivered fruit to the camp. More than 7, 000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans were held at the site, one of 10 internment camps in the American west. | |
