Philadelphia karyotype. Illustration of a male or female karyotype (chromosome set) with one defective chromosome on pairs 9 and 22. This can cause chronic myelogenous leukaemia (CML). The left-hand chromosomes of pairs 22 and 9 are normal, whereas a translocational defect made defective chromosome 9 larger and defective chromosome 22 smaller. | |
