X-ray of the right shoulder of a 52-year-old patient with calcific tendinitis. Calcific tendinitis occurs when there is a build up of calcium deposits in a tendon, usually the rotator cuff tendon. Symptoms include sudden severe pain in the shoulder and restriction of movement in the shoulder. Treatment for calcific tendinitis includes rest, physiotherapy and a short course of non-steroidal medication. The scan shows greater tuberosity of the humeral head. | |
