Illustration showing Enceladus Orbilander, part-orbiter and part-lander concept spacecraft orbiting Saturn's moon Enceladus. The Orbilander mission concept aims to first orbit and then land on Saturn's moon Enceladus. The spacecraft would search for signs of life hidden in Enceladus's oceans. To search for life, the Orbilander would be equipped with instruments including mass spectrometers, microscope and a DNA sequencer. If the Enceladus Orbilander mission was selected for development by NASA, it would launch in 2038 and would not reach Enceladus until at least 2050. | |
