Composite Copernicus sentinel-2 satellite image showing the agricultural fields near the city of Hereford, Texas, USA (centre, bottom). Known as the beef cattle of the world, crops such as maize, wheat, soybeans and onion are grown in the area. The circular shapes seen in the image are where centre-pivot irrigation systems are being used. This composite image was obtained from three separate Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) images taken from the 17th March 2019 to 21st April 2019. Areas shaded red, orange and green show changes in vegetation growth. Black areas of land show places with low vegetation growth while white areas show areas of high vegetation growth of the season. Route 60 can be seen cutting across at the bottom-right of the image. | |
