The lakebed at the Mardale Head end (southern extent) of Haweswater reservoir, Cumbria, UK, during the drought of summer 2010; under normal conditions the entire valley would be flooded up to the vegetation line at the top of the beach. The village of Mardale was drowned to make the reservoir. | |
