Waves, currents, tides, and storms attack the coast, breaking off pieces of land and depositing them somewhere else. This natural phenomenon is called erosion. The ocean is endlessly moving the sand on the shore, making a beach smaller in one area and enlarging it in another. On rocky coasts, the water erodes the softer parts of cliffs, forming cracks, digging caves, and carving majestic sculptures. Whether made of sand or rock, the appearance of coastal landscapes is constantly changed by water. | |
