Molecular model of the blood serum protein albumin (coloured ribbons) complexed with JSM-053 inhibitor (centre, sphere with carbon in yellow). Albumin is a protein capable of binding and transporting different substances such as fatty acids, hormones and therapeutic agents such as medicines. Here, albumin binds to fatty acids (grey and white spheres) as well as the JSM-053 inhibitor. JSM-053 is an inhibitor of the protein tyrosine phosphatase PTP4A3, which is overexpressed in many cancers. For a labelled version of this image, please see C053/0027.
