Site of Project Gasbuggy, a 1967 nuclear explosion designed to fracture rock to extract natural gas in Dulce, New Mexico, USA. The project was part of Operation Plowshare, a government program aimed at finding peaceful uses for nuclear explosions. It worked as planned, except that the gas that was liberated was too radioactive to be used. | |
