Partial solar eclipse during sunrise. Part of the Sun is still below the horizon making the partially blocked Sun appear as horns. Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes in front of the Sun. The eclipse is partial when only part of the Sun is obscured by the Moon. This partial solar eclipse was visible after sunrise over most of Europe, northwestern and South Asia. Photographed on 4 January 2011, from Duisburg, Germany. | |
