Light micrograph section through a human cervix showing severe cervical dysplasia. This means that severely abnormal cells have been found in the cervix. However, it doesn't mean cancer and it doesn't mean that it will develop into cancer, but rather it's a precancerous condition. Cervical dysplasia is also known as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Treatment includes cryosurgery, which freezes abnormal cells, and laser therapy.
