Sculptor Galaxy (NGC 253), composite image. This spiral galaxy measures around 70-80, 000 light years across and lies 11 million light years from Earth in the constellation of Sculptor. It is among the closest galaxies to the Local Group that contains our galaxy. NGC 253 is a starburst galaxy with very vigorous star formation and very dusty spiral arms.
