First high resolution colour image of the Martian surface taken by NASA's Perseverance rover after it touched down on the planet on 18th February 2021. The images was obtained by one of the rover's Hazard Avoidance Cameras (Hazcams). The rover was carried to Mars aboard the Mars 2020 spacecraft, which launched from Earth on 30th July 2020. Perseverance will study the geology of Mars and search for signs of life. | |
