Light micrograph of the brine shrimp Artemia salina. This species is commonly found in saline waters such as salty lakes and salt pans. It tolerates the high salinities by having a cuticle that is impervious to salt. Salt does enter the shrimp via its food, but this is excreted through the appendages on the first ten pairs of legs.
