The fireflies of Chile are poorly studied. This larval firefly has been tentatively identified as Cladodes ater. The larvae was encountered on a moss covered boulder along a stream in the temperate rainforest of southern Chile outside of Valdivia. It was located at night by the bright green glow of its posterior lanterns. | |
