The Amazon Wood Lizard (Enyalioides laticeps) is a good sized reptile from the Amazon Basin. Males tend to be green while females are typically brown or brown with a dirty green pattern. Importantly, more pattern and added color are present during the breeding season. These are common encounters on night hikes where individuals are observed resting on vines. They have amazing faces and males have outstanding colors. This individual was photographed in Amazonian Peru, January 2019. | |
