The Gorgon II-A, claimed as the U.S.'s first liquid-fuel, rocket-powered guided missile. It was developed as an air-to-air weapon by the Navy's Bureau of Aeronautics (BuAer) in World War II. Also designated KA2N, KU2N, CTV-4, and CTV-N-4, the Gorgon II-A proved a failure in its designed role, it was repurposed as an experimental testbed for missile technology.
