Breast cancer. Light micrograph (LM) of a section through a basal cell carcinoma of the breast. Even though basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is amongst the commonest human malignancies, the involvement of breast is uncommon. This is easily explainable as the breast is seldom sun exposed and the etiology of BCC primarily involves sun exposure leading to ultraviolet-ray-induced carcinogenesis. The BCC of the breast is believed to be more aggressive than BCC reported elsewhere in the body.Cells within the tumour (purple) are haphazardly arranged. The skin surface is at top (red). Magnification: x 100 when printed at 10 centimetres tall. Human tissue. | |
