Virgo cluster of galaxies. This cluster contains over 1300 galaxies and includes the Local Group of galaxies, which our galaxy the Milky Way is a member of. It lies 48 million light years from Earth in the constellation Virgo. The curved line of galaxies at right is known as Markarian's Chain. The two largest galaxies at the bottom of the chain are M86 (largest of the two) and M84. The large elliptical galaxy at the lower left edge is M87.
