Soviet lunar spaceship. Model of the proposed LK (Lunniy Korabl, 'lunar ship') lander that would have taken Soviet cosmonauts to the surface of the Moon. Although tested successfully in Earth orbit, the LK never managed to reach the Moon due to failures of the N-1 rocket launcher. The programme was cancelled in 1974, following the successful American Apollo missions. | |
