Tourmaline is a boron-silicate mineral occurring in a number of crystalline varieties (schorl, dravite) in igneous rocks. Well known and much sought after for jewellery are the clear crystalline varieties that occur in different colours. This sample illustrates how two of the more prevalent colours occur together in a raw crystal, embedded in its quartzite host rock. Actual height of this crystal 95 mm. | |
