Sunrise on Hateg island, Cretaceous period, illustration. Between 86-65 million years ago, in the now vanished Tethys sea, Hateg island was part of a chain of islands called Modac, located where Europe is now. The island had a land mass of about 80, 000 square kilometres and, during the Late Cretaceous, Hateg was sub-tropical. Dinosaurs and pterosaurs existed on this island. | |
