Urban growth of New Delhi, 2018, satellite image. North is at top. New Delhi, the capital of India, is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. The urban area is seen in grey at left, and also includes cities outside of Delhi, such as Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, and Gurugram. Around 1000 people a day were moving to this urban area in 2016, with a projected addition of 400 million people by 2050. This image was obtained on 5 June 2018 by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) sensor (bands 7, 6, 4) on NASA's Landsat 8 satellite. For the same area in 1989, see image C046/3145. | |
