An adult Lion's mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata) swimming in Ardrossan harbour on the west coast of Scotland. It is the largest known jellyfish species and grows to a diameter of 2.3 metres with tentacles up to 37 metres long (largest specimen recorded in 1870). It swims with a pulsing motion generated by the white-coloured structure at the front. | |
