Robonaut inspection with ISS astronauts, February 2017. NASA astronauts Peggy Whitson, Shane Kimbrough and ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, with Robonaut in the Destiny module of the International Space Station (ISS). Robonaut is a humanoid robot designed with the versatility and dexterity to manipulate hardware, work in high-risk environments, and respond safely to unexpected obstacles. Robonaut is comprised of a torso with two arms and a head, and two legs with end effectors that enable the robot to move inside the ISS by interfacing with handrails and the seat tracks, a system known as Compact Peripheral Component Interconnect (CPCI). Photographed on 1 February 2017 as part of Expedition 50 to the ISS.
