Title page of Bernoulli's 'Hydrodynamica' (1738). Written by Swiss mathematician and physicist Daniel Bernoulli (1700-1782), 'Hydrodynamica' was published in Basel in 1738. It was one of the most influential books in fluid dynamics theory. Bernoulli established much of the mathematics behind hydrostatic systems before expanding them to explain various aspects of fluid flows. This was of great importance in naval architecture, but is best known as the foundation of aerodynamic theory. | |
