Cumulus mediocris clouds over a lake in Switzerland. This area is near the Jura mountains, on the shores of Lac Leman near Montreux, Switzerland. Cumulus clouds often form at cold fronts where the advancing, cool air forces warm air upwards. They typically occur at under 2000 metres altitude, with the mediocris variety having a moderate vertical extent. Photographed in the mid-morning in spring, in Switzerland. | |
