A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on the launch pad at Space Launch Complex SLC40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The launch vehicle was developed by Space Exploration Technologies Corp, founded by Elon Musk in 2002. The rocket pictured launched a Dragon supply capsule, also supplied by SpaceX, to the International Space station in April 2016. The grey shed-like structure in the foreground is the flame trench extension to take exhaust gases away; the tower at left is part of a lightning protection system. | |
