A historic ground equipment control panel from the Space Shuttle era on display in the Space Walk of Fame museum in Titusville, Florida. The panel controls emergency safety systems, in particular the Orbiter Access Arm (OAA), a swing arm on the launch pad service tower which allows the crew to exit the vehicle in an emergency. The console's main screen shows a Shuttle in a later phase of launch, once the solid rocket boosters have been jettisoned; the other visible screen shows a Shuttle lifting off the pad. | |
