Greater argonaut (Argonauta argo), also known as a paper nautilus. This marine cephalopod mollusc is rarely observed in the wild. It is found near the surface in the open ocean in warm and tropical regions. It feeds on plankton and other small organisms. Cephalopod molluscs (which also include squid, cuttlefish and octopuses) have complex eyes and a well-developed brain and nervous system. Photographed in the Mediterranean Sea. | |
