Salt solutions with pH indicator. Bromothymol blue indicator changes its colour depending on the pH of the solution. Here bromothymol blue has been added to three salt solutions in vials. Left to right: ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) produces an acidic solution and turns the indicator yellow. Ammonium acetate (NH4CH3CO2) produces a neutral solution and turns the indicator blue-green. Sodium acetate (CH3COONa) produces a basic solution and turns the indicator blue. | |
