Heliospheric current sheet, illustration. The heliosphere is the area around the Sun that is filled with its magnetic field. It encompasses the whole solar system. The heliospheric current sheet circles the Sun's equator and is the largest structure in the Solar System. Its surface is the point at which the Sun's magnetic field changes from North to South. Ripples in the sheet, caused by the rotation of the Sun, form a Parker spiral that extends throughout the Solar System. | |
