Separating iron from sulphur. A horseshoe magnet is used to separate iron metal shavings (Fe) from its mixture with sulphur powder (S). Constituents in a mixture are not chemically bonded to each and retain their individual properties. Here iron is ferromagnetic and is attracted to the magnet while sulphur is not. Therefore they can be physically separated with a magnet. | |
