Culpeper-style microscopes were produced by a number of eighteenth century instrument makers in the 1700s. Edward Culpeper (1670-1737) was a mathematical instrument maker based in London and developed this microscope in the 1720s. It has a tripod stand and a concave mirror at the base, allowing for light to be reflected and concentrated directly onto the object being observed. | |
