Young boys and their father using a Zebu drawn cart to transport water. This scene was photographed in the Mandrare River riverbed, south-eastern Madagascar. The Mandrare is a key water resource in a part of Madagascar which is dry for a large part of the year. The rainy season in Southern Madagascar lasts for less than two months. Here, people bath, wash clothes, and collect drinking water. Some families trek 35 kilometres with Zebu-drawn carts to collect water in large barrels. | |
