Sharpless 29 stellar nursery. Optical image of the Sharpless 29 (Sh 2-29) nebula, which lies around 5500 light-years from Earth, in the constellation Sagittarius. Many astronomical phenomena can be seen here, including cosmic dust and gas clouds that reflect, absorb and re-emit the light of hot young stars within the nebula. Imaged by the OmegaCAM imager on the VLT Survey Telescope (VST), Paranal Observatory, Chile.
