Moonlit night in Fujian Tulou, China. Clouds in a moonlit night sky over a building in Fujian Tulou, China, with photographers at lower right. Fujian Tolou is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Fujian province, south-eastern China. It is named for the Chinese rural dwellings called tolous (one shown here) which are the traditional dwellings of the Hakka people. These buildings are large, enclosed and fortified, most commonly rectangular or circular, with very thick rammed earth walls between three and five stories high. They can house up to 800 people. Photographed on 16 July 2017. | |
