Ebola vaccine trial in Liberia. Study volunteer receiving an inoculation at Redemption Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia on the opening day of PREVAC (Partnership for Research on Ebola Vaccination), a Phase 2 Ebola vaccine trial in West Africa. Ebola virus disease (EVD) is a severe and often fatal disease with symptoms including fever, fatigue, muscle aches, vomiting, diarrhoea and haemorrhaging (internal bleeding). It is spread through direct contact with infected bodily fluids. There is no cure for the disease, but three quarters of patients can recover if provided with sufficient medical support. Several vaccines are under development and undergoing testing. Photographed on 3 April 2017.
