An airport security scanner on display at the 2015 Paris Air Show. The Safran XDi is a liquid explosives detection system that uses coherent X-ray diffraction techniques to identify materials based on their molecular composition. The system is capable of detecting liquids (as well as solids, gases and powders) within luggage – as shown on the screen – and could remove restrictions on the carriage of liquids through airports. | |
