HMS X1 submarine. This 20th-century British submarine was built from November 1921 for the Royal Navy. It was launched in November 1923 and commissioned in December 1925. It was 110 metres long, with a crew of 111. Armed with torpedoes and guns, with electric and diesel engines it had a surface range of 23, 000 kilometres. The large Quick Firing Mk I guns are seen in the twin turrets. The submarine was decommissioned and scrapped in 1936. | |
