IgG and C3d antibody blood tests
IgG and C3d antibody blood tests. Samples of blood being tested for the human antibodies IgG (immunoglobulin G) and C3d (a product of reaction involving the protein complement component 3). IgG is the most abundant immunoglobulin and is found in all body fluids. It is involved in marking bacterial or viral proteins for destruction by the body's defence systems. There are two main IgG blood tests: the direct antiglobulin test (DAT) and the indirect antiglobulin test (IAT). DAT is used to test for autoimmune haemolytic anaemia. IAT is used in prenatal testing and prior to blood transfusions. C3d testing is also taking place here. C3d is a complement antigen to IgG that activates alternative reaction routes.
