Consolidated B-24 Liberator heavy bomber in flight during World War II. A horizontal Eagle radar antenna is suspended from the bottom of the front of the aircraft. The Eagle system was developed by the US Army Air Force to increase the accuracy of precision bombing. Manufacture of the system did not begin until 1944 and only a handful of planes were fitted with Eagle before the end of the war. | |
