Novia Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever. This is a breed of the domestic dog (Canis familiaris). It has a thick shaggy coat. The breed originated in Canada, being bred from tolling (lure) dogs from Britain. Canadian hunters developed the breed to specialise in duck hunting. Without barking,it retrieves a stick thrown repeatedly by the hunter. The movement attracts ducks and geese within range of the hunter's gun. After the birds are shot, the dog retrieves the dead bodies. It is a high-energy dog that requires a lot of exercise | |
