Labrador retriever puppies. Eight labrador retriever puppies,Canis familiaris, lying in autumn leaves. The domestic dog usually has a litter of between 3-10 puppies. These nurse for about six weeks, change their teeth after about three months, and become sexually mature after about ten months. Both male and female dogs take on a parental role during this time. Golden retrievers were originally bred to retrieve felled game birds from cold water and heavy vegetation. They have a keen nose and a dense water-repellant coat that makes them ideal for this. They also have an obedient nature and so make excellent guide dogs or pets | |
