Kinkajou (Potos flavus) in a tree. The kinkajou is a fruit-eating arboreal (tree-living) mammal found in the rainforests of Central and South America. It measures up to 80 centimetres in body length. It is adapted for life in the trees by having a large prehensile tail, and gripping pads on the soles of its feet. It is mostly nocturnal and spends almost all of its life in the upper canopy of the rainforest. The kinkajou is also known as the honey bear because of its fondness for honey.
