Mosquito. Macrophotograph of a female mosquito (Culex sp.) laying eggs on the surface of water. The tight aggregation of eggs,which may number up to 300,is known as a raft. The eggs hatch into aquatic larvae 24-36 hours later. The larvae pupate 5-10 days later,emerging as adults after around two days.
