Comet Hyakutake photographed in April of 1996,several months after its discovery. Hyakutake (or 1996 B2 Hyakutake) is a long period comet. Its last visit to the inner solar system occurred in 15,500 BC,and its next visit wont come for another 29,500 years. Like its more frequent short period brethren,Hyakutakes tail is made up of illuminated dust and ionized plasma, the former pointing back along the comets path, the latter pointing away from the sun. 3 refractor 500mm | |
